Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow

It is with sadness and regret we must address you, the listeners, this 14th of June 2010. Though we have enjoyed more than three years of collaborative music-making, performed countless shows, released three albums entirely of our own accord, and received positive reviews from such entities as the ever-respected NPR, The Slant have decided, collectively, this chapter in our musical careers must come to a close.

Each of us, without doubt, has shared more, toiled more, learned more, laughed more, and gained more from our experiences working together than in any other musical endeavor in which we have taken part; and we dare think this is truer than most are fortunate enough to tell.

The line-up of the group has offered a wide variety of musical backgrounds over the past few years, which we have drawn upon during our various projects. Many times this has been a blessing, but at this point, our individual preferences for both the creative process and production are too varied to effectively create music that is equally fulfilling for each member. This is not to say, however, that any grouping of The Slant's members will not collaborate in varying combinations on future projects.  Select music of The Slant's will still be performed and we would like to make it clear that this decision is completely communal. We fully support each other with whatever projects may come next, and our friendships endure.  Please, continue burning CDs for your friends and spreading the music as you see fit.  Although the members of this band have agreed to part ways, we are still very happy with the music we've made together.  Though we may come and go, the music will always be there for everyone.

Lastly, we would like to thank our supporters: our families for allowing us to get started and supporting us through the years, the friends who wanted to be around us with or without the music, our girlfriends for being there after time spent apart, and lastly the fans (current list included) for giving us a reason to do what we have done, and will continue to do, through the years.  It is appreciated whole-heartedly.  Please check back with us at any of our established media outlets every-so-often to see what new projects are in the works as, again, we are by no means done making music.

Sincerely,

The Slant

We extend to all an invitation to join us at our last scheduled performance, which will take place July 17th, 2010 in Coudersport, Pennsylvania.  Details of this performance will follow shortly.

Hey folks,

We've got a show coming up this Thursday at a quaint little place in Lawrenceville, which is about 10 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh (on the other side of the strip).  You may have seen us play there on New Years a couple years back with Omega Love.  This time, however, we're gonna be playing with Chet Vincent & The Big Bend, and The Deceptions.

Anyway,
Music starts at 9

Pittsburgh, PA 15201-3224

Its gonna be a good one.

An Audio/Visual Experience

Hi Folks

As some of you may have noticed, we have not been playing many shows, nor have we made any announcement about recording a new album.  I have an update for you.  Here it is:

We've been in talks with some film makers in New York about creating a soundtrack for an upcoming independent film entitled "MovieMoney," a dark comedy about two aspiring actors who decide to write a screenplay.  We've been spending our time writing/recording/mulling over music the last couple of months to create the best product possible.  This is something we've collectively always wanted to do, and we're very excited to be working with these talented independent film makers.  I encourage you to visit their website, become a fan on Facebook, follow them on Twitter... anything to get the word out on the project.  For those of you who are fans of HBO's The WireAndre Royo ("Bubbles") plays a starring role in this film.  The rest of the cast is listed on the film's website.  It's currently in post-production, and I don't know exactly when you can look forward to seeing it, but we'll surely let you know.

Stay tuned for a trailer and details concerning the state of our music and where we're heading in the coming months
